Radon Water Treatment

Saco Valley Well and Water has expertise in designing a radon water treatment system for your well.

Radon is a consistent problem in well water in New England. It poses a significant risk to your health. Particularly in the White Mountains and Western Maine there is a high probability that your well has radon in the water. As seen on the map on the left, there is an 80-90% chance that radon is at elevated levels in wells locally. EPA recommends treating the well water if radon exceeds 4,000 pCi/L. Additionally, wells that are high in radon are also often high in uranium. These can have detrimental effects on your health and both are known to cause cancer when they are at elevated levels.

Saco Valley Well and Water offers water testing and a new specialized treatment system that can be installed at the well. The traditional treatment methods are more expensive and have a large footprint in the home where they not only take up space but also make noise. This new system installed at the well is more affordable and convenient compared to traditional methods of treatment. There is also the added benefit of treating methane and sulfur while also potentially reducing treatment needs for Iron, Manganese and VOCs, which may lower treatment costs for these issues too.
